Hi Venture readers! It’s Skye with my very first blog post (feels exciting)! I figured that
because most of you are fans of our literary magazine, it would be cool to see what a day in the
life of a member of Venture (and English major with a concentration in literature) is like! So, I
filmed a video, and edited it to the best of my ability, but I’m also writing a blog post to go along
with it. I hope you enjoy my hectic days just as much as I do, if not more! See y’all on the
other side!
My mornings start with a very drowsy wake up call as my alarm rings at 0730. I stare at the
ceiling for a solid five minutes until I realize that it’s now or never and I must arise from my
beautiful slumber. After groggily putting my clothes on and making my way to the bathroom, I
do my morning routine (not something I want publicized on the internet, so I’ll leave it up to
your imagination). When I’m finally awake enough to hold a conversation, I say “hi” to my pup
Ruby and my parents, if they’re awake. By the time I finish my morning routine, it’s time to rush
out the door. I usually barely have enough time to fill my water bottle, but this day was special
because I knew I’d need the hydration.
Once I make it to my car, it’s a mad dash to the nearest Dunkin’ for a sausage Wake-Up Wrap
and a bottle of apple juice. Once breakfast has been purchased, it’s another fifteen minute drive
to pick up my friend from their house. After the brief pitstop, it’s a twenty-minute drive to
school, bringing us to about forty minutes of driving before even getting to school.
This day, I didn’t have my morning class (typically Oceanography) so I spent that time playing
catch up in my other classes. I did some grammar homework, read for Literary History I, and
even managed to cram in work for one of my other clubs. After I got some lunch around 12, I
walked around campus hanging up and handing out flyers for our Writer’s Block event which, at
the time of this blog post’s publication, has already happened and was a huge success (thanks to
everyone who showed up)! After about 3 hours of homework, walking around campus, and
several successful yap sessions with my friends, it’s finally time to go to class.
I spend my afternoons on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Dr. Goldie’s Literary History I class,
followed directly by his Grammar and Style class. Both of these courses are required for my
majors and I quite enjoy them. After my classes, I grabbed a quick dinner and headed over to the
Alumni Gym for a basketball game with the Pep Band (another club I’m in).
I got home around midnight after getting a late post-game dinner with some band members.
After dropping my friend back at their house, I got home and got ready for bed. My days are
crazy but that’s what makes them fun! I hope you guys enjoyed my day in the life video (and
blog post) and I can’t wait to share more adventures with you!
